THE GOVERNATOR

Ode to Arnold Schwarzenegger
by Kyle Nelstead (senior)

I sing of arms and of the man,
A weightlifter from Austria
Now become quite American
And gov’ner of California.
You’ve probably seen his movies
And Mr. Universe title
And if his campaign goes sundry
At least he will have his might still.
As a boy he grew up oppressed
And somewhat abused by his dad
But this never caused him distress;
He dealt with what little he had.
Suddenly, like flowers in spring
Good ol’ Arnie burst on the scene.
After his run with weightlifting
He then appeared on the big screen.
When he moved here he had nothing
Except a goal: he wanted more.
He’s had his American dream
Now he is the governator.
He’s now a cultural icon
Everyone knows his movie lines
He’s Republican like Nixon
Yet for environment he pines.
His face is chilsed as a cliff
His grisly hands do strike terror,
His legs are just as iron, stiff
He is, after all, the Terminator.
Though some may mock his politics
And call his ideas crazy
At least they all enjoyed his flicks
So “Hasta la vista, baby.”
